New Africa Village served 371 meals to children ages 1-18 years old

North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Office of School Nutrition secured the Food Bank's Summer Food Service Program as the Sponsor to provide food service for the Summer Nutrition Program to the New Africa Village Approved Site in accordance with regulations promulgated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI).
New Africa Village and Durham Housing Authority were instrumental in providing the facilities to serve the meals.
Children received take home bags filled with food and snacks sponsored by Bagging4Kids after completing their lunches onsite. Fresh produce and food items were distributed to the community.
Backpacks and school supplies donated by the community were presented to elementary, middle school and high school students which highlighted the end of the New Africa Village Summer Meals Program for 2025.
